Labour Hopeful for South Ruislip running in late father’s memory

Imran Khursheed 40, Labour candidate for South Ruislip in Hillingdon has revealed he is running as a councillor in memory of his late father, former Labour leader Mo Khursheed.
Imran Khursheed first stood for election at the age of 26 and has since run twice more. Labour is expected to make gains in the borough of Hillingdon, and during the ballot count at Brunel University Mr Khursheed said: “I have seen a definite change in mindset, it’s our campaign message, for the many not the few.”

Mr Khursheed, a Labour representative all his life, followed in his father’s footsteps, twice former Labour leader and representative for Botwell, Mo Khursheed (Pictured above), who died 12 weeks ago.
Imran Khursheed said, “That’s the reason I stood this time round. He recently won the freedom of the Borough for all the work he’s done in the borough.” The highest honour a council can give.
Most notably in 2014 Mr Khursheed’s father replaced then and now current Labour Leader Peter Curling as leader.
