This is the month where men stop shaving their moustaches – it is Movember. The movement that is determined to bring awareness and change. Movember is putting a face on men’s health, raising awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and physically inactivity.

There have been a few events on campus this month. In the Atrium there has been a cake sale and three different talks, one about prostate cancer, one about testicular cancer and one about mental health. Locos has held a Movember pub quiz and a Movember takeover karaoke whereas The Venue had a Mo-global last Friday. From every Staropramen bottle sold in Locos, £1 went to the Movember Foundation.

So far this year Movemeber has raised £87 million from 1,2 million donations. There are still many events happening in London even after November is over. You can go have a cocktail at The Rack in King’s Cross, there is family event in Chiswick at George & Devonshire and you can even go to the nightclub Dogstar who has hired a barber for the night to shape and shave all of the Movember moustaches for a small donation.

Today, the last day of November, some people shave off half of their moustache to raise even more awareness. A moustache does always start a good conversation about men’s health – just imagine what half a moustache can do.
