Piers Morgan - Do you love him or hate him?

by SKYE WILLIAMS

Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan has stepped down as an ITV presenter following his outburst about the Duchess of Sussex on Monday's live show. The broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality decided to leave GMB ITV last night after receiving over 40,000 complaints from audiences following his comments. He strongly attacked the Duchess for being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey. Following the launch of an investigation into Piers Morgan made by Ofcom, ITV issued a statement regarding the presenter's behaviour. "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add." This morning Piers Morgan took to social media following his departure. He tweeted a picture of Winston Churchill alongside a quote regarding free speech. The picture read: "Some people's idea of free speech is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that's an outrage." The tweet from the presenter reflected on the events of Monday. "I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t." "If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions." The tweet received over 70,000 likes on the platform. One twitter user replied saying: "Piers I'm not watching gmb again, watch the ratings fall, good luck in the future." Following this tweet, he took to twitter again this morning, he posted about his "BREAKING NEWS" "Good morning Britain beat BBC Breakfast in the ratings yesterday for the first time." "He continued saying: My work here is done."
