Online events for World Book Day
by ANDREA JENKINS
Young children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters at home, as they will be treated to free online events as part of World Book Day.
These sessions will be a substitution for the activities they would normally have in school. Hillingdon Council says the activities will vary 'from stories and rhymes, to games and bedtime stories whilst keeping them entertained'.
World Book Day encourages children to read and allows them to dress up as their favourite book characters for the day while enjoying everything to do with books.
The council will be hosting three free online events throughout the day on March 4. The timetable for the day will be:
10.30pm - World Book Day themed interactive stories and rhymes for under-5s.
2.30pm - Listen to a story then join in with our fun World Book Day games and a quiz for 4 to 9-year-olds. Why not dress up as your favourite book character? And don't forget to bring a pen and paper.
6.30pm - Bedtime Stories for 4 to 7-year-olds. Snuggle up with a blanket and teddy bear, and listen to some relaxing bedtime stories. You could also wear your World Book Day fancy dress costume if you like.
If your child would like to get involved, email summerreadingchallenge@hillingdon.gov.uk. You must include your name, your child(ren)’s name and age(s) and the session(s) they would like to join, your library card or HillingdonFirst card number and your phone number. All children must be supervised during all sessions.
